About the artist

Jane Butler studied Graphic Design & Illustration at Reigate School of Art & Design in Surrey before moving to Australia where she began a career in advertising as a Copywriter and Art Director.

After five years in Australia and ten in Canada, Jane returned to England where she was able to develop her life-long interest in painting. "Colour is my passion and that's what attracts me to working on silk," says Jane. "I love the vibrancy and the way the colour glows on the silk."

Much of Jane's work is inspired by whimsical memories of places she has visited. In contrast, her life paintings celebrate the beauty of the human form and the drama of colour.

As well as teaching art privately, Jane runs a children's Art Club (see Links). She exhibits regularly and has sold to private collectors in France, North America and Australia. For details on forthcoming exhibitions, please see the Exhibitions page on this website.
